Come and learn how to paint the landscape in Oil. Suitable for Beginner to intermediate painters.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to simplify your design.

  • How to interpret colours you see in the landscape.

  • How to key your painting to a particular light.

  • Colour theory and how to mix colours.

WHEN: 28th - 29th of March
WHAT Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm
WHERE: Harrison’s Art Studio
13 Sunshine Rise, Raglan

Limited to 6 students.

You will have 1 hour for lunch to get something in town or you can bring your own lunch and have it in the backyard.

Tea, Coffee and an Afternoon snack is provided.

Format of Classes

  • 30 min of compositional theory with examples of how to design a painting, and how to approach painting the landscape outdoors.

  • 2.5 hrs gathering material and inspiration outside with sketches, colour notes and photographs.

  • 1 hr Lunch break.

  • 2 hrs interpreting the information we have gathered back in the studio and beginning to turn it into a painting.

  • Afternoon tea break.

  • Continuing to work on our painting.

  • The following day follows the same format.
